by - mai 27, 2014

Deadline is reporting the Fox 2000 and Temple Hill studios have optioned Ava Dellaira’s debut novel Love Letters to the Dead! This novel was just released in April so the studios really moved fast on optioning it for a film!

Love Letters to the Dead follows Laurel, who is just entering high school life and struggling with the tragic death of her older sister May. However, she is unsure she can accept how her sister died until she gets a very unique English assignment. Her teacher asks the class to write a letter to someone who has passed on. Instead of writing just one and actually handing in the assignment, Laurel keeps a personal notebook filled with the letters she writes.

She addresses the letters to people such as Kurt Cobain, Judy Garland, Jim Morrison, Amelia Earhart, River Phoenix, and Amy Winehouse. The only way Laurel can begin to accept what happened surrounding her sister’s death is through writing these letters and we get a heartbreaking glimpse into her life throughout the novel.

Producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill will be producing the project and Dellaira will be penning the script. Plus, Fox 2000 executives Elizabeth Gabler and Erin Siminoff will also be involved.
